The prolific Australian-American experimental band Liars have remixed Cult of Dom Keller's 'Run From The Gullskinna' – originally lifted from the latter's highly-praised fifth album, 'They Carried The Dead In A U.F.O.', which was released May 21st 2021 on Fuzz Club Records.
‘Run From The Gullskinna’ is ‘They Carried The Dead In A U.F.O.’s fierce, shape-shifting opening track. Taking its name from an ancient book of spells bound in human skin which, according to legend, could never be burned, Cult of Dom Keller describe it as “a song about how technology has taken advantage of our tribal instincts, hijacked our attention and polluted our perception with constant noise. It’s about trying to escape the bombardment of misinformation as it casts its spell of confusion.” Liars' Angus Andrew said of his reworking of the track: "My favourite songs to remix are the ones that seem impossible to improve. I felt this way on first listening to the original 'Run From The Gullskinna'. A massive and tumultuous track that despite my efforts to tame it, still runs wild in my mind."
On the remix, Cult of Dom Keller add: “When we were looking at potential artists to work with us for a potential remix of this special track, it struck us how many artists influence bands but how few artists inspire us – particularly modern artists. Yet we all agreed that Liars, through their incredible back-catalogue of post punk, avant-rock and electronic experimentations, is one artist that has continuously inspired us with their disregard for the rules and sole focus on creating their own vision on each album. We find that a rare breed in modern music. The opportunity to work with Angus was an incredibly exciting prospect for us and his own interpretation of the track showed again why Liars continue to be one of the most inventive artists of today.”

"It's not repetition, it's discipline". Drum and bass lines this consistent definitely deserve that quote, especially since there is a distinct essence of MES in the vocals. That solid foundation carries the ever shifting phased guitar and synth perfectly. An album to lose track of time with. Spaceman Si

Some of the meanest synths I’ve ever heard! The layers of fuzz through a sonic constant brings the listener to new realms..and that magenta vinyl is wicked pretty! A must listen for any neo psychedelic fanatics like myself 😉 Patrick Bernet (ǟֆȶʀǟʟ քɮ)
